Anglers rescued by RNLI Lifeboat – 2 July 2017

Spirit of West Norfolk

At 5.10pm Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton Lifeboat to go to the aid of a 5 metre angling boat that had broken down in the Freeman channel with two persons on board.  Hunstanton volunteer crew launched on service and arrived on scene at 5.30pm.

The cabin style vessel had suffered a gearbox failure.  The skipper had contacted Humber Coastguard on VHF radio giving his position and stated that he needed assistance.

The two persons were on an angling trip in the Wash when the vessel developed gear-box problems.  Hunstanton Lifeboat “Spirit of West Norfolk” arrived on scene and took the vessel in tow back to Boston where it was moored.  Hunstanton Lifeboat was then released to return to station arriving back at 7.45pm.
