Hunstanton Lifeboat launched to assist Yacht on mud bank – 30 April 2017

At 11.00am UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton Lifeboat – Spirit of West Norfolk – to go to the aid of a yacht that had gone aground to the west of the training wall at the mouth of the Gt. Ouse with two persons on board.

Hunstanton volunteer crew were tasked to assess the situation and, if necessary, take the two crew off. On arrival at the scene they found the yacht listing 40 degrees on a mud bank west of the training wall. The two crew on board were OK and said they would stay on board, and refloat on the evening tide, and that no assistance was required.

The lifeboat was released to return to station.
