Anglers rescued by RNLI Lifeboat – 4 September

Spirit of West Norfolk

At 9.12am Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton Lifeboat to go to the aid of a fishing vessel that had broken down in the Freeman channel with six persons on board.

Hunstanton volunteer crew launched on service and arrived on scene at 9.45am. RNLI crew-member was put on board to assess the situation.

The cabin style vessel had suffered a gearbox failure. The skipper had contacted Humber Coastguard on VHF radio giving his position and that he needed assistance. The six persons were on an angling trip in the Wash when the vessel developed gearbox problems. Hunstanton Lifeboat “Spirit of West Norfolk” arrived on scene and took the vessel in tow back to Boston where it was moored. Hunstanton Lifeboat was released to return to station arriving back at 12.15pm.
