Lifeboat assists lone sailor after capsize – 2 July 2016

Spirit of West Norfolk

At 18.28pm Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton Lifeboat to go to the aid of a dinghy capsized off Scolt Head Island Brancaster

Volunteer RNLI crew launched on service in response to a report of a Lasar dinghy that had capsized to the North of the Island.  On arrival at the search area a lone person was seen walking along the shoreline of the island and the crew made contact with him.   He informed the crew that his mast had broken and that he had managed to beach his dinghy above the tide-line and no other persons were involved and no medical treatment was required.  Our lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk brought the sailor back off the Island and landed him into the care of the local Coastguard response team at Brancaster Harbour.

H.W.5.30pm.  Wind W4.  Weather cloudy.  Vis. good    Sea state Choppy.
