Lifeboats launched to aid a 60ft Yorkshire Keel – 18 June 2016

At 11.53am Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton Lifeboat to go to the aid of a 60ft Barge requesting assistance.

The vessel had left Boston bound for Lowestoft with two persons onboard. It met adverse weather, near the Roaring Middle Light, in the Wash and called Humber Coastguard saying that they were meeting heavy seas and requested assistance.
Hunstanton volunteer crew launched on service and arrived on scene at 12.20pm. RNLI crew member was put on board to assess the situation. Skegness lifeboat arrived and Hunstanton crew assisted in securing a tow to the Skegness lifeboat. The 60 ton barge was then taken in tow to Boston. Hunstanton lifeboat was released to return to station.
