The RNLI were called to assist an ambulance crew out on the flats about half a mile west of the boathouse. The ambulance had been called to a casualty with a broken ankle.

Our volunteer crew were paged and launched on service at 1.08pm. They arrived on the scene within minutes. By then the ambulance paramedics had carried out first aid treatment and had prepared the casualty for the short journey on our hovercraft back to the waiting ambulance. The casualty was then taken to the QE2 hospital in Kings Lynn.

It is understood that the casualty, a lady who was visiting the area from Chemlsford, was pulled over by her dog.
