Hunstanton Lifeboat Launch – Wednesday 19 March 2014

At 3.15pm Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Hunstanton Lifeboat to standby a fishing vessel two miles north of the Sunk Buoy while a RAF Helicopter airlifted a crew member from the vessel suspected of having a heart attack.  Hunstanton lifeboat launched on service at 3.25pm and was on the scene at 3.42pm.

The lifeboat presence was requested in case any difficulties were encountered in removing the casualty from the fishing vessel due to the rigging etc. which would necessitate transferring the casualty to the lifeboat prior to winching into the helicopter.  Our crews train with RAF Helicopters in the transfer of casualties.

The helicopter airlifted the casualty from the vessel and took him to the QE Hospital at Kings Lynn.  Our lifeboat was then stood down to return to station.
