Hunstanton Lifeboat Launch – Saturday 14th December 2013

At 7.55pm Humber Coastguard (CG) requested the launch of Hunstanton Lifeboat to go to the aid of a male person reported to have jumped from the Freebridge bridge into the river at Kings Lynn.

Hunstanton RNLI volunteer crew, Gavin Grange Helm, crew members Ian Devenny, Michael Wallace and Victor Dade launched on service at 8.03pm. As it was three hours after high water on a short tide, the lifeboat had to take the longer route out round the Bays and down into Kings Lynn through the deeps.

Five minutes into the service the Coastguard received a report that the man was out of the water but struggling in the mud and they requested the lifeboat to continue to the scene until it was confirmed that the person was safe. Two minutes later the Coastguard radioed to say that a male person was in the custody of the Police, and the lifeboat could return to station.

Due to the weather conditions a net recovery was made at 8.37pm. Wind was SW 5. Sea state rough. Visibility good.
