At 11.00 am. Humber Coastguard paged Hunstanton Lifeboat “Spirit of West Norfolk” to go to the aid of a dinghy reported to have capsized off Heacham and its crewman was having difficulty in up righting the vessel.

Hunstanton volunteer crew arrived on the scene to find that the occupant had managed to upright the dinghy.  It had suffered a broken boom.  The lifeboat crew took the vessel in tow and landed it at South Beach Heacham into the care of the local coastguard team.

The lone sailor was asked if he needed any medical treatment as he had been struggling in the water for about 15 minutes and, though exhausted, he said he was OK.  Our Lifeboat returned to station at 11.55 am.

Sea state moderate.   Wind fresh SE 4.   Visibility good.
