Hunstanton lifeboat “Spirit of West Norfolk”
15:12hrs. Yarmouth Coastguard reported that a Yacht is aground at Brancaster Staithe with 2 persons onboard that need taking off as the vessel is listing badly in a north easterly gale. The volunteer crew launched the Hunstanton Lifeboat the Spirit of West Norfolk at 15:24hrs and made best speed to the area. They found that the casualty vessel was being washed up onto the beach with two crew still onboard the vessel. The Lifeboat was unable to get alongside the yacht due to shallow water. Auxiliary coastguards were on scene.
The two crew of the casualty vessel made their own way off the vessel to the beach. The coastguards assessed the casualties and they reported that there was no need for an ambulance and transported the casualties to their accommodation in Brancaster Staithe. The Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station at 16:12hrs. Due to heavy sea and strong wind conditions a net recovery was effected at 16:35hrs.
The casualty vessel was last seen on its side in the shallow water on the beach.
