Hovercraft launched to search for missing rider

Yarmouth Coastguard requested launch of Hunstanton Hovercraft to assist in search for a horse rider, after a rider-less horse was found on the beach at Holme-next-the-sea.

A search was started to find the rider, as it was feared the person might be lying injured somewhere on the beach.

A major search was started involving Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft, the local Coastguard team and Rescue 125 Helicopter.

The person a local lady was found walking along the beach between Thornham harbour and the Firs nature reserve.

Yarmouth Coastguard were informed and after it was established that she did not require any medical attention, all units were stood down at 3.15 p.m.
