Hunstanton Lifeboat launches to aid kite surfer

The MK branches supported lifeboat in Norfolk was launched today to go to the aid of a kite surfer.

Yarmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Hunstanton Lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk at 14:50 pm 29 November 2011. The Coastguard had received a 999 call from a member of the public stating that his son was kite surfing off Hunstanton and was in trouble. This was the second call from the father in a short space of time.

Hunstanton volunteer crew launched on service at 14:55 in a force 6 westerly gusting to near gale force. On arrival at the scene it was reported that the kite surfer had managed to make it back to shore. Hunstanton Coastguard response team spoke to the father. Our Lifeboat was stood down to return to station at 15:28.
